Overview
ActuallyGovern is a political satire print-on-demand ecommerce store built on WooCommerce with an extensively customized theme. The site features a unique government/classified documents aesthetic with custom typography, paper textures, and stamp graphics. Beyond standard ecommerce, the site includes interactive engagement tools: a satirical news headline generator that creates shareable images, a "Classified/Declassified" product reveal system with countdown timers, mood-based product filtering, and a donation impact tracker with timeline showing contributions to nonprofit organizations. The entire homepage is modular with 11+ sections that can be enabled, disabled, and reordered via the Customizer. Additional features include a rotating hero headline ticker, rage meter, Field Agents customer photo gallery with user submissions, and milestone celebrations. (This is another passion project created and run by WhimsyBuilt.)
The Challenge
Political merchandise sites are typically generic and forgettable. We needed a site that captured the satirical, non-partisan spirit of the brand while creating genuine engagement — and one that could evolve easily as the business grows, with a portion of profits going to charity.

Built a fully custom WordPress theme with 50+ Customizer options for complete admin control. Key features include: a Satirical News Headline Generator (40+ templates, downloadable shareable images), "Classified" product system with countdown reveals and declassified stamps, Mood Selector for emotion-based shopping, Donation Impact Tracker with progress bar and timeline, Field Agents photo gallery with user submissions, modular homepage with 11 drag-and-drop sections, rotating hero headlines, news ticker, rage meter, and milestone celebrations. Government-themed design with classified folders, stamps, and paper textures throughout.
