Our Approach

UX Isn't Optional

Beautiful websites that frustrate users are failed websites. Here's why UX matters — and how we approach it.

Why UX Matters

User experience isn't a nice-to-have — it's the difference between a website that works and one that doesn't.

Every confused click, every moment of frustration, every abandoned form costs you. Good UX isn't just about making things pretty. It's about understanding human behavior and designing systems that align with how people actually think and act.

How We Think About UX

01

Empathy First

Before we design anything, we work to understand the people who will use it. What are their goals? Their frustrations? Their context? Design without empathy is just decoration.

02

Clarity Over Cleverness

The best interface is one users don't have to think about. We prioritize intuitive, clear design over flashy gimmicks that might confuse or distract.

03

Accessibility Is Non-Negotiable

Good UX means good UX for everyone. We design with accessibility in mind from the start — proper contrast, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and more.

04

Test, Learn, Iterate

Assumptions are dangerous. Whenever possible, we validate design decisions with real users and iterate based on what actually works — not what we think should work.

UX for Everyone

Good UX serves both the people visiting your site and the people managing it.

For End Users

  • ✓ Intuitive navigation that makes sense
  • ✓ Fast loading times that respect their time
  • ✓ Mobile-friendly design that works everywhere
  • ✓ Clear calls-to-action that guide them forward
  • ✓ Accessible design for all abilities
  • ✓ Forms that don't make them want to scream

For Site Owners

  • ✓ Admin interfaces that don't require a manual
  • ✓ Easy content updates without breaking things
  • ✓ Logical organization of settings and options
  • ✓ Clear labels that explain what things do
  • ✓ Safeguards against accidental mistakes
  • ✓ Training and documentation that actually helps

UX in Action

Real examples of how UX thinking shapes my work.

Smart Shopping Lists

EatRealAgain.com

Challenge: Users found meal planning overwhelming with no easy way to organize shopping needs across multiple recipes.

Solution: Built a custom shopping list generator that automatically tallies ingredients based on selected recipes and serving sizes, with smart categorization by store section.

Result: Streamlined meal prep workflow — users can plan a week of meals and generate a complete, organized shopping list in seconds.

Multi-Platform Publishing

Whimsy-Books.com

Challenge: Needed to sell print-on-demand books through Amazon while also managing subscriptions and digital content for members.

Solution: Created separate customer and subscriber dashboards, integrated Amazon KDP for POD fulfillment, and built an admin system for managing users, creating puzzles, and tracking engagement.

Result: Unified platform handles both book sales and membership content, with clear separation between public and subscriber-only features.

Seamless Digital Delivery

BlackstineModels.com

Challenge: Artist needed a custom-designed storefront that could handle digital downloads with PayPal payment and automatic file delivery.

Solution: Designed a visually striking WooCommerce site with custom styling, integrated PayPal checkout, and connected to Google Drive for seamless digital product delivery after purchase.

Result: Beautiful, functional storefront that matches the artist's aesthetic while handling the entire purchase-to-download flow automatically.
